Sunday Committee Training 2019

Over the course of the day you will get a chance to learn what your roles are and how you could interact with other committee members to enhance your club over the year.

During the workshops you will interact with other clubs and your own committees to put together the building blocks for what makes a great committee. You will hear from the staff that are there to support you and current students who have experience of your role.

09:00am – 09:15am – Transport provided from Dryden Building City Campus – Limited availability

09:30am – 09:40am –  Registration will be at the Teaching and Learning Building, Clifton Campus NG11 8NS.  You will need to bring your student ID to registration

09:45am - Start 

09:45am – 10:45am – Opening Session: Sarah Hadlow and Ollie Judd

10.50am –11.35am – Workshops part 1

Finance - The session will cover information on collecting and paying money into the club accounts, making purchases, VAT and how to read and manage the club account.

Mental Health - In accordance with Student Minds - the UK’s student mental health charity, you will learn the skills to support other students going through mental health problems. You will also help get a better understanding of what is meant by mental health and learn the tools to help establish a culture that promotes positive mental health.

BUCS Essentials – This session will focus on what you need to know about how BUCS affects your club. In order to prepare yourself for the coming year and the opportunities to make your life – and increase your clubs effectiveness – come along.

Trips - This session will focus on your role and responsibilities as a Trip Organiser and provide you with a broad understanding of the SU transport booking system and Safety requirements and hazards for trips.

11:35am – 11.45am - Break

11.45am –12.30pm – Workshops part 2

Running a Successful Club - The session will cover support for day-to-day tasks, ensuring your club runs as smoothly as possible and complies with all regulations and departmental processes

Marketing - The session will cover how to effectively promote your club face-to-face and online.

Finance - The session will cover information on collecting and paying money into the club accounts, making purchases, VAT and how to read and manage the club account.

There will be limited transport leaving from outside the Dryden Building at 09:15am, It is based on a first come, first served basis.
